(Santa Ana, California) “I can truly envision no greater honor than joining Pablo Picasso as a premier inductee into what will eventually be a pantheon of artistic genius,” stated John Steenhoven as he was accepted into the International Ceramic Artists Hall of Fame (ICAHF). Steenhoven continued, “Mere days ago the ICAHF was simply a figment of my imagination. Now it is an even larger figment. My goal, of course, is that some day the ICAHF will be housed in an actual building, perhaps resembling the Parthenon, but with a roof.”
In a prepared statement, Steenhoven addressed questions as to why he chose Picasso to join him in the ICAHF, specifically speculation that, being dead, Picasso was in no position to decline. “Picasso and I share an eclectic involvement in the fine arts. He was quoted as saying ‘Je suis aussi un poète,’. If I spoke whatever language this is I would probably say something like that too.”
Steenhoven’s work is on display at the website which he personally established, www.santafecreatives.com.
Since Picasso didn’t personally establish a website, little more is known about him. |
